Take a balloon flight in Hertfordshire this summer!

Summertime is officially here and the weather is perfect for taking a balloon flight. Adventure Balloons offers a range of passenger balloon flights from all over the South East and London, with one of the most popular locations being Hertfordshire.

From the balloons basket, you will see the stunning countryside and towns and villages of Hertfordshire from the various launch sites situated in Hemel Hempstead, Watford and Stevenage. To provide a safe and enjoyable flight, the launch site will be chosen depending on the wind speed and direction to ensure that the balloon stays out of restricted airspace around Luton airport.

During a balloon flight over Hertfordshire you can expect to see such sights as Hatfield House and the Pendley Manor Hotel, as well as small villages like Tring and Leighton Buzzard and on a clear day you can also see the fantastic London skyline.

Balloon flights start from £105 per person and can be ordered online through the balloon flight vouchers page. Each voucher is valid for 12 months from the purchase date and comes with an information pack and 20 page map pack to help you get ready for your flight.

What is a Cloudhopper and how does it work?

The term Cloudhopper is often used to describe a one-person hot air balloon, which has a harness or seat as opposed to a balloon basket. The Cloudhopper name was originally trademarked by Colt Balloons in 1979 and is now owned by the Lindstrand Balloon Company, but many people still refer to one-person balloons as Cloudhoppers even if they are manufactured by a different company.

A one-person hot air balloon has the propane tank attached to the harness or seat, behind the pilots back and the balloons burner is often attached to a frame above the pilots head. The harness or seat can usually rotate independently from the balloon envelope, making it easier for the pilot to navigate and land the balloon.

A Cloudhopper or one-person hot air balloon is one of the cheapest ways to get into ballooning and has gained in popularity dramatically over the past few decades, with many balloon enthusiasts opting to build there own.

Romantic hot air balloon flights

Hot air ballooning is one of the oldest and most romantic ways to fly, and with this in mind it is no surprise that we see lots of proposals and engagements on our balloons every year. A balloon flight experience will be remembered for a long time and is a great story to tell your friends and family, and whether you choose a morning or evening flight, you are bound to have a great day.

Balloon flight prices start from just £105 per person for flights in the Home Counties and £185 per person for our London balloon flights, and if you are celebrating a birthday, you can book our special Happy Birthday balloon for up to 4 people from just £500.

In-flight photos of your balloon flight can also be purchased when you buy your balloon voucher or on the day of your flight. Booking the date and time of your flight is also easy with our flight availability page; simply choose the county, how many spaces you require and the time of day you want to fly and the software will tell you if it is available.

Family days out – a hot air balloon flight!

With the summer holidays fast approaching, you are bound to hear the immortal words “I’m Bored” from your children. Why not treat them to the unique experience of a hot air balloon flight; not only a fantastic family day out, but a fascinating story to tell when they are back to school.

The minimum age to take a balloon flight is 8 years old, and all children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Because the sides of the balloon basket are quite high the minimum height we can accept is 1.4 meters or 4 foot 6 inches.

As well as an hour of flight time, passengers are encouraged to help in the preparation and deflation of the balloon if they want to and spectators are also welcomed, providing that they do not impede the balloons launch.

After the balloon flight there will be a certificate ceremony where every passenger will receive a certificate signed by the pilot and a champagne toast (adults only).

Taking a balloon flight with your loved ones is a great experience and an ideal introduction to ballooning, and who knows, they might like it so much that they want to come back again and again.

Balloon flights above North Hampshire

Adventure Balloons has been offering hot air balloon flights from all over the Home Counties for many years including the magnificent county of Hampshire. Because Hampshire is a large county, balloon flight locations are split up into North and South Hampshire with balloon launch sites situated in Alton, Popam and Winchester in the south and Basingstoke, Old Basing and Hartley Wintney in the North.

During a balloon flight over North Hampshire, the pilot will choose the most suitable launch site to avoid the airspace around Heathrow airport; this will depend on the wind direction on the flight day. Wherever you fly from in North Hampshire you are bound to see such sites as the Bramshill Police College, Moundsmere Manor and Stratfield Saye as well as small villages like Crondall, Dummer and Overton.
